Introduction to Oral History:  Online Workshops

These introductory workshops are offered online by Dr. Indira Chowdhury.

The workshops will introduce participants to the theory and practice of oral history and include the following:

  • Understanding Oral History and the role of memory
  • Learning to Listen
  • Ethics and Legal Issues
  • Aims and Objectives of an oral history project
  • Creating a Budget
  • Who to interview
  • Choosing equipment
  • Approaching the interview: themes and questions
  • Creating documentation: summaries, transcription software, archiving

The Maximum number of participants in a Workshop: 12
